OUR LOGO

The tree that we have placed at the center of our logo is a symbol that, both in its conceptual and materials aspects, summarizes the most essential features of our school.

THE CONCEPT

The tree, traditionally a symbol of knowledge, illustrates the three cornerstones of our educational offer: the trunk represents the language, branches and leaves the culture and roots the region, while the plant as a whole evokes the natural process of language acquisition and development of interlanguage. Under the roots the writing «Rimazùu» – i.e. the endonym of Riomaggiore in the local dialect of Ligurian language – indicates the tight bond of the school with the environment and with our cultural association.

THE STONE

The tree we have chosen is taken from the proto-Romanesque friezes of the gates of St. John the Baptist parish church and in all likelihood it is the oldest depiction in Riomaggiore area. While the building dates from 1340, the friezes are considered earlier of some centuries and, according to the oral tradition, they come from the most ancient church of neighborhood, St. Martin the Old, whose ruins lie near the peak of Mount Verugola.

I nostri Colori

To represent the three cornerstones of our learning proposal, we decided to use also three different colours: azure for the language, yellow for the culture and green for the region, a special chromatic guide that will accompany the students throughout their learning process. The tints we chose also symbolize the different elements of the landscape of the Cinque Terre, that is the blue of the sea and sky, the golden yellow of the sun and grapes, the green of the vineyard, woods and Mediterranean scrub.
